Montego Bay adventures in 2026-27

A year after Hurricane Melissa, most of Montego Bay's adventure days are back on the calendar. Here's what's running for the 2026-27 season, from recent guest reviews and official pages.

Montego Bay's winter season is when most visitors come, and this year it starts in the shadow of the strongest hurricane on record to hit Jamaica. The good news for anyone planning a zipline, tubing or ATV day: the operators on this site are running, and guests were reviewing them through the summer of 2026.

This post covers what's open, what changed on the routes, and how far ahead to book for December to April.

The quick answer

All the main adventure days from Montego Bay have guest reviews from 2026, most from August, September or October. Hotels are the tighter part: about 70% of rooms were back by September 2026, with the rest due by early 2027. Book the Chukka pass early for its discount, and the small-group ATV safari early because it takes ten riders at most.

Is Montego Bay open for tours this winter?

Yes. The tours run and visitors are arriving, although about 30% of hotel rooms were still offline in September 2026.

Jamaica welcomed 2.34 million visitors between January and August 2026, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett told The Gleaner in September, 17% to 18% fewer than a year earlier. He put the room stock at about 70% of normal, with the rest returning between the end of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. Airline capacity has not fully recovered to pre-hurricane levels, though Bartlett said the flights are full.

For you, that means one thing above all: book your hotel before your tours, since rooms are the bottleneck.

Which adventure tours have recent guest reviews?

All of the main ones. The flagship Chukka pass has reviews from October 2026; most of the others from August or September.

Recent reviews are the best sign a tour is running as described. Here is the latest month of guest reviews on each Viator listing.

What changed on the routes after Hurricane Melissa?

Small things. Expect a missing viewpoint here and a rebuilt stop there, not cancelled tours.

Westmoreland took the full force of the storm, and Rastasafari is based there. Its guests in 2026 still describe the swim in a mineral pool, the farms and the fresh lunch. On the small-group safari in Trelawny, a July 2026 reviewer noted that the scenic overlook and swing are no longer there, and another that the team is rebuilding.

On the coast, Chukka's Ocean Outpost pass lists the same activities as before: sea zipline, ATV or dune buggy, horse swim, party catamaran, reef snorkel and truck safari. Tubing on the Rio Bueno is taking guests too: Braco Tours and Bamboo Beach Club both have September 2026 reviews, and the Bamboo Beach Club trip starts at River Rapids Jamaica.

How far ahead should I book for December to April?

The Chukka pass 75+ days ahead for the 40% tier; the small-group ATV safari early too, because its groups are capped at 10.

The Chukka pass has the clearest reason to book early: its EARLYBIRD tiers rise from 25% at 14 days to 50% at 105 days, explained in our early-booking post. The Wah Gwaan safari caps groups at 10, and Rastasafari at 24, so popular dates go first.

Tubing trips take much bigger groups: up to 100 on the Rio Bueno listing and 150 on the Bamboo Beach Club one.

What else should I know before booking this season?

Hurricane season ends on 30 November, the pass still has no river tubing, and free cancellation covers every tour here.

Trips in the last weeks of November fall inside hurricane season; our hurricane season post covers NOAA's outlook and how to book around it. From December you're outside the season.

The old "Zipline, Tubing and ATV Safari" listing is now the Chukka pass, with no river. If you want all three in one trip, our guide to getting all three shows how to pair the pass with a tubing day.
